Larry R. Smeltzer

Louisiana State University

This study analyzed the relationship between writing style and leadership style of 117 supervisors. It also analyzed the effect that supervisory expe rience, formal education, and management training had on this relationship. Style was defined and measured in terms of structure and consideration. There was no significant positive relationship for the dimension of consid eration. However, there were significant negative relationships for the dimension of structure. Management training had a significant effect on writing style.
